Procrastination and your Health–Dr. Wendy Coburn |

We have all been touched by it somehow, somewhere in our lives. Either we do it to ourselves, our spouse, or someone we work with. Procrastination affects the wellness of our lives in a negative way. It’s a weight on our shoulders, a stress, causes loss of sleep, poor eating habits, and does not give us the potential to be the best we can be in all areas of our lives. 86% of the people in North America procrastinate about their health. We don’t do anything until we are told there is a problem. Yet, problems can often be prevented through education. You educate your children or co-workers because you are aware of how much safer and healthier it is for everyone involved when you prevent emergencies. Why not do this for yourself? Without your health you can not achieve your true potential in life. You can do so many things to protect your health and the health of those you love the most. People value their health but procrastinate about looking after themselves. You only get one body to work with and it works for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s time to give back to your health today if you want it to continue to serve you in the future and provide optimum well being for you. How you ask? |
Start by having regular "wellness checkups" at this office to make sure you are actually healthy and not just assume you are healthy because you happen to feel good at the moment. How you feel is not a good or reliable indicator of how healthy you are. A far better indicator of true health is how your body is functioning. Having no symptoms does not equal being healthy. A person can have heart disease for thirty years and never know it until a "symptom", a heart attack happens. Was that person healthy before the heart attack? No. Did they do anything to prevent it? No. Can they? Yes. Make an appointment for you and your family to have a proper examination of your nerve system because it is your nerve system that controls and coordinates all functions in your body. Have a "family wellness checkup" to make sure everyone’s body is at its highest level of function so that there are no health surprises. Your health and your family’s health is your most valuable asset (commodity). Don’t procrastinate. Take action and call today. |
|
The Bottom LineWell, there you have it. Procrastination not only erodes personal power but also contributes to the relentless erosion of health. The "maybe it will go away" attitude only speaks to health problems after the body has already begun to breakdown. Health comes from making pro-active decisions to grow ones health year after year rather than simply looking for cures. And, for you smokers out there, you’ve talked about quitting. Stop procrastinating and start stopping today! |
